Castleton Sustainability Team Earth Day 2025

April 2025 // Client Work

In March 2025, Mary Droege, a professor at VTSU Castleton, approached our Posters & Promotions class with a request for graphic design assistance. She needed a poster for the Castleton Sustainability Team's Earth Day events, scheduled for the upcoming weeks. Given the tight turnaround time of just 2-3 days, I decided to take on the project, aiming to create a design that would effectively communicate the event's message while adhering to the brief.

I began by conceptualizing a design that would capture the essence of Earth Day in a unique and engaging way. The final design featured a playful, lumpy illustration of the Earth, symbolizing the planet's imperfections and the collective efforts required to nurture it. This approach added a touch of whimsy to the poster, making it both eye-catching and memorable.

Working closely with my advisor and professor, Bill DeForest, we refined the design to ensure it met the client's expectations. After incorporating feedback and making necessary adjustments to the text and event details, we finalized the poster and sent it to Mary. She was pleased with the outcome, noting only minor tweaks were needed.

Despite the short timeline, I am proud of the final product. The project not only allowed me to apply my graphic design skills under pressure but also reinforced the importance of effective communication and collaboration in meeting client needs. The positive feedback from Mary and the successful execution of the poster underscored the value of adaptability and creativity in design.
