May 2024 // Assignment
Planty was developed as part of my UX Design class, where we were tasked with creating a plant watering app to help users manage their indoor plants. The goal of the project was not just to create a functional app, but to design an experience that would make plant care easier and more enjoyable for users. While the app isn't fully functional, I dedicated significant effort to crafting a comprehensive prototype, encompassing approximately 100 unique screens to illustrate the app's features and user flow.
The app is designed to help users keep track of their plants' needs, with features that range from plant care reminders to a personalized plant profile. It integrates both practicality and fun, allowing users to not only manage their plants but also interact with them in a more engaging way. Whether you're a novice plant owner or a seasoned enthusiast, Planty helps simplify plant care and encourages consistency.
Designing Planty required careful thought and attention to the user experience. I wanted to ensure that the app was intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing. I focused on creating a clean, minimalistic design with vibrant, nature-inspired colors that reflect the essence of plant care. The layout is simple and easy to navigate, with large buttons and easy-to-read fonts that make interacting with the app a seamless experience.
The prototype was built using Adobe XD, allowing for an interactive walkthrough of the app’s functionality. I spent a considerable amount of time on the user interface, making sure each page flowed logically into the next and that the overall design felt cohesive.
Ultimately, Planty was more than just a design project; it was an exploration into how technology can enhance the everyday experience of caring for living things. It taught me how to balance creativity with practicality and to design with the user in mind. By combining interactive features with a visually engaging interface, I believe this app could be an excellent tool for plant lovers everywhere.
