The Outer Banks is like a second home for my family. We’ve been coming every year ever since I can remember. This year, I wanted to do something special to commemorate the trip, and I’ve been wanted to work on more short films, so this felt like the perfect time to bring out the camera and start filming.
I wanted this film to just be an overarching look at the trip, with no clear storyline or anything, as it’s vacation: there’s no schedule, no where you need to be, and nothing you need to do. While I did loosely use clips from the morning at the beginning and clips from the evening at the end, it is kind of a hodgepodge of a film, but I honestly think it works quite well for what I was trying to accomplish.
Getting a drone was something I knew I wanted to get before the trip, and am I glad I did. The camera quality on the Skyrover 4 is absolutely incredible, and the shots it allowed me to get are breathtaking. I had a blast learning how to use it and get some incredible moments for this film.
I’m incredibly grateful to even have the opportunity to make something like this. With work, my other projects, and overhauling this website, I haven’t has much time to get behind the camera as much as I would like. I hope this film shows some of my filmmaking skills, from videography to editing, and can bring you some of the joy it brings me!
