Cuppy's Website

Cuppy's began as a family joke after my mom picked up a coffee from Holland Farms, a bakery in Utica, NY. The cup had a simple little cup with smiling face printed on the side, and, much to my family's dismay, I immediately gave it a name: Cuppy. From there, I built a full personality and backstory for the character. What started as a silly in-joke slowly evolved into a full-blown brand concept.

In my final semester of college, I had the opportunity to choose my own project. Right away, I knew I had to bring Cuppy's to life as a cozy baked goods brand - one that blends charm, warmth, and whimsy with clean, thoughtful design. I created a full logo and visual identity centered around soft colors, friendly typography, and stylized illustrations, all designed to make people smile, just like the original Cuppy did.

I started with the logo, aiming to capture Cuppy's spirit as authentically as possible. Thanks to the original Holland Farms cup (and the fact that I'd drawn it before), the design came together quickly.

While experimenting with different layouts, I accidentally created a brand pattern! I love flipping designs around and viewing them from different angles, and during that process, I stumbled upon a playful, repeating pattern featuring Cuppy itself.

From there, I knew I wanted to create icons of classic baked goods, and adding animated versions would make the site feel even more interactive and alive. It was a no-brainer!

Finally, I designed and built the Cuppy's website with a desktop-first approach, focusing on accessibility and personality. Using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, I incorporated playful animations, a responsive hamburger menu, and custom transitions to give the site an inviting, interactive feel. The homepage features a looping video header to set the tone, followed by product highlights, brand values, and an "About" section to welcome users into the Cuppy's world. Every part of the site was crafted to reflect what Cuppy's stands for: sweet, silly, and full of joy!
